This substantial and characterful existing Victorian Terraced townhouse on Ladbroke Square, set within the heart of Notting Hill, was presented to the architect as two separate flats. The Brief required very careful reworking of the properties, to provide an entirely natural linkage internally. The properties had both been extensively altered in the past, post-War, as is typical of properties in this area. The proposals included full re-servicing of the property, significant but careful layout alterations, a new Basement being created at the front and a new-build large rear glazed extension. The proposals resulted in attractively renovated, modern and practical large rooms. Previous inappropriate subdivisions were removed and opened up to create much larger, more airy rooms and family spaces.
